Find ‘a little bit of everything’ at new Middleboro artist shop
MIDDLEBORO — From candles to earrings to colorful rocks, there’s room for everything at The Soulful Palette, an artist shop that opened on Saturday, Feb. 3 in Middleboro.
Owner Corinne McCarthy wanted to provide a welcoming place for local artists to share their work, and that is exactly what she did.
The store, located at 88 E. Grove St., features a plethora of different forms of art and objects designed by local vendors.
McCarthy said the store is “a huge collaboration,” between herself, the vendors and workshop instructors.
The Soulful Palette features a shop and a studio. Artists can create new pieces in the studio or have their work put on the shelves of the shop on display for customers.
“All of the vendors I have in here are super supportive and encouraging,” said McCarthy. “We’re an all inclusive studio that is accepting of everybody. We don’t care what your background is or how you make your money.”
McCarthy has been self-employed as an artist for eight years and has experience working in a similar shop.
She said that she was able to get in touch with a lot of art vendors after she made a business page on Facebook, which “took off instantly.”
“We do like the oddities in here — the things you can’t find at your everyday store,” said McCarthy. “
Some of those “oddities” include botanical witch brooms, spell jars and crystals.
Each vendor at The Soulful Palette can also host workshops at the store, where customers can learn what goes into making certain pieces of art.
McCarthy, who grew up in Halifax, said that her entrepreneurial spirit came from grandfather.
“I owe a lot to him for giving me the courage and support to continue doing what I want to do,” she said.
The Soulful Palette is open daily from 9 a.m to 2:30 p.m. Guests can also schedule personal shopping hours at other times.
“There’s a little bit of everything here,” said McCarthy. “We have a whole room for kids, we have stuff for guys, we have something for everybody.”
The Soulful Palette’s next workshop will be held on Sunday, Feb. 11. Beginner artists can learn how to paint a night sky. Tickets for the event can be purchased online.
