Cookout serves up burgers with a side of employee appreciation

MIDDLEBORO — Town Manager James McGrail and select board members Mark Germain, Brian Giovanoni, Neil Rosenthal and Thomas White cooked and served Thursday June 22 at the first Employee Appreciation Cookout at Battis Field.
Town offices closed at 2 p.m. for the event, which was attended by about 150 people.
About 100 employees were recognized.
The town’s most senior employee, Sealer of Weights and Measures Charlie Novish, was honored for his service to the town, on a part-time basis, for 50 years.
Thirty employees were saluted for serving more than 20 years with the town, 27 employees have given at least 15 years of service, and 24 employees have more than 10 years in town employment.
