Classic country, golf and more to do this week
It’s summer time and there’s plenty to do this week — from practicing your swing to listening to classic country — you won’t be bored.
On Saturday, June 7, True Grit Art Gallery will host the reception Snapshots in Oil, a solo exhibition featuring more than 48 oil paintings by Norfolk artist Michelle Quinn — head down to the gallery, meet the artist and enjoy some adult beverages.
For those who want to listen as opposed to look, the Lakeville Council on Aging will host its annual Gentlemen’s Day Celebration at 12 p.m. Thursday, June 12. The event is open to all gentlemen and will feature a performance by local entertainer Matt York. York will present “The Highwaymen: Songs and Stories,” a solo show highlighting the music and lives of country supergroup The Highwaymen — Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Johnny Cash and Kris Kristofferson.
How’s your swing? The Lakeville Lions Club will host its annual golf tournament on Friday, June 13 at Heritage Hill Golf Course in Lakeville. The event is open to the public and with a best ball format and a 1:30 p.m. shotgun start.
