Car fire on Route 495

MIDDLEBORO – There was a vehicle fire on a lane of Route 495 near the 16.5 mile mark, according to a Facebook post on Saturday, Nov. 18 at around 6 a.m. from the Middleboro Permanent Firefighters IAFF Local 3653.

Brandon Doherty, a spokesperson for the State Police, said that “a Ford F-350 that had caught fire” on the highway at 5:23 a.m. “Cruisers had to close both lanes of travel while the fire was extinguished,” he said.

“No injuries were reported [and] the roadway was reopened and scene cleared at 5:43 a.m.,” Doherty added. He said that he didn’t have any information to provide about the cause of the fire.
