Busy January at Middleboro Senior Center
MIDDLEBORO — The Middleboro Senior Center, 558 Plymouth St., has a number of upcoming events scheduled for January and early February. Here is a sampling:
“Play It Again’’ will perform popular songs at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 12. Lunch will be served, featuring ham with pineapple glaze, scalloped potatoes and vegetables, no later than noon, at $5 per person. Middleboro residents can reserve a seat through Jan. 9, then the event is open to all. Call 508-946-2490.
The fashions of Downton Abbey will be presented by Karen Antonowicz of Spirits of Fashion at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 26. Explore the styles of 1912 through the 1920s, when major changes occurred in both society and in fashion.
Learn to use old greeting cards to make boxes that can be used for storage or given as gifts. Andrea Priest will host the workshop at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 17. Bring cards to use and supplies such as scissors, rulers, glue, clips or clothespins if available. Supplies will be provided to those that need them. To reserve a seat, call 508-946-2490.
Try Zumba Gold from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 18. The class offers a modified Zumba class at a lower intensity that focuses on balance, range of motion and coordination. Session is free but space is limited, so call 508-946-2490.
Who doesn’t love chocolate? Just in time for Valentine’s Day, sample chocolates, including milk, dark and sugar-free. There is a limit of 20 participants; sign-ups are required by calling 508-946-2490.
