Burkland School assistant principal goes for laughs at Alley Theatre

Jul 6, 2023
MIDDLEBORO — Middleborough native Greg Thomas, whose day job is assistant principal of Henry B. Burkland Elementary School, will go for laughs as one of the comics in the upcoming comedy series Boro' of Laughs on July 28 at The Alley Theatre, 133 Center St. in downtown Middleboro. He will take the stage with comics James Dorsey (the headliner), Brett Davey, Andrew Boyle, and Barry Wilson.

Thomas, a lifetime Middleboro resident, has always loved comedy. Having judged comedy shows at the Alley Theater it was always a bucket list wish for him to get on stage and try his hand at comedy.

In the fall of 2022, he made that dream a reality after enrolling in Laugh University in Boston. He  studied under Boston comedy legend Tony V. The culmination of his hard work resulted in a five-minute set at the Improv Asylum Training Center in Boston's Faneuil Hall.

He opened for comedy giant Steve Sweeney at The Alley Theatre in April, recently performed in Vermont, and was chosen to compete in the South Shore Comedy Clash at Steve Sweeney’s Comedy Den in July.

He looks forward to returning home to share some stories and laughter with his family, friends, and community.
