On Monday, Oct. 3, the Lakeville police department released body camera footage from the morning of Friday, Sept. 29 , when a Lakeville police officer and a state police officer shot and injured Lakeville resident Timothy Hladik. Hladik was armed with what was later determined to be a “replica gun.”

The body camera footage starts by showing a Lakeville police officer exiting his police vehicle while shouting “drop the f***ing gun.” The Lakeville police officer then crouches behind his police vehicle and uses his radio to communicate that “I’ve got someone pointing a gun.”

At some point during the encounter, an out of uniform state police officer arrives to provide assistance, but it is not immediately clear from the recording at what exact time that occurs.

Hladik can be heard repeatedly saying the phrase “kill or be killed” throughout the body camera footage. While behind the police vehicle, the Lakeville police officer repeats the phrase “drop the f****** gun” and also says “drop the f******* gun or I’ll shoot you.”

The Lakeville police officer then moves around his police car to reach the front of the police car, while again saying “drop the f***ing gun.” The Lakeville police officer then runs away from the police car, and Hladik can be seen standing behind the front of the police car.

The Lakeville police officer then crouches behind a second vehicle. Then, a gunshot can be heard.

Hladik then says, according to the body camera footage, “You missed, m***** f*****, nice shot.” Hladik then continues to repeat the phrase “kill or be killed.”

The Lakeville officer then said “shot fired” into his radio. Hladik then approaches the second car. The Lakeville police officer then moves away backwards from the second car. Hladik can be seen standing next to the second car.

Then, nine different gunshots can be heard. Hladik moved behind the second vehicle and can no longer be seen on the body camera footage. The Lakeville police officer can be heard breathing heavily.

The Lakeville police officer says “shots fired” on his radio, and then says “send rescue, I’ve got one down.” He then adds “I’m with the [state] trooper, as well.”

A state police officer can then be heard saying “don’t touch the gun.”

The body camera footage then ends after two minutes and fifteen seconds.

According to a statement on Monday from the Plymouth district attorney’s office, Hladik was wounded by the shooting. Hladik has been charged twice with “Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon,” and once with “Threat to Commit a Crime.”

According to a statement from the Lakeville police department, the weapons of the two officers had been taken as part of the investigation, and the Lakeville police officer was taken off-duty, “as is standard procedure in any police-involved shooting.”

Hladik is currently in custody, and will be held without bail until a dangerousness hearing, which is scheduled for October 12 at noon.
