LAKEVILLE — Fraudulent emails have been popping up in the inboxes of permit applicants.

The town warns these emails request wire-transfer payments for permit fees or for the recipient to fill out more forms.

These emails often have “Action Required – Settlement of Invoice for Application Approval and Review Fee [permit type]” in the subject line, and can contain email signatures that appear legitimate.

These emails and invoices are not from the town of Lakeville, and the town will never request payment by wire transfer. The town warns recipients not to respond or send money.

Anyone who receives a similar email and is unsure of its legitimacy can call the department they are requesting a permit from.
