April Vacation Week programs for kids and teens at the Middleboro library

MIDDLEBORO — The Middleboro Public Library has a mix of fun events for youth to enjoy over April Vacation Week.
Saturday, April 18 at 11:00 a.m.
Attendees can go out for a spin and hurl some shells at the Mario Kart Tournament with One Up Games at the beginning of school vacation on Saturday, April 18 from 11 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the Library’s downstairs meeting room.
Participants will compete in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Mario Kart World. eNintendo gift cards will be awarded to the top three finishers. Light refreshments will be served. The event is limited to 25 participants. Participants can register on the library’s website at midlib.org to get their spot in the tournament.
Participants must be on time to keep their spot in the tournament, which is open to ages 10-17.
Tuesday, April 21 at 1 p.m.
The Homeschool Drama Club from the Middleboro Public Library will present Fairy Tale Theater at the Middleboro Council on Aging.
This event is free but attendees must reserve a seat by calling the COA at 508-946-2490. Attendees can meet a garden gnome who takes their job very seriously, King Midas with the golden touch, and Farmer Brown who desperately wants all the piggies to stick to their assigned tasks.

Join Ms. Hannah for a Bruce the Bear Storytime celebrating Earth week.
After hearing the book, enjoy related activities including making recycled newspaper pots and planting a seed. All ages welcome and no registration is required.
Wednesday, April 22 at 1:00 p.m.
Celebrate America’s 250th anniversary with Game Show USA and join the library for a delightfully wacky game show, where participants will test their knowledge of all things U.S.A., from the earliest origins, all the way to present day.
Participants will compete for patriotic prizes. All ages are welcome but the questions are for grades three and up. Seating will be on a first come, first served basis.
Thursday, April 23 at 10:30 a.m.
Nashville recording artist and author, Sarah Martin, will provide a concert and book signing for The Rainbow Workshop Coloring Book. The event is free but books will be available for purchase for $10.
Thursday, April 23 at 1:00 p.m.
Join in on creating Framed Clay Roses with Pop Up Art School. At the event, participants will sculpt delicate roses and leaves from air-dry clay, then paint them with translucent watercolor paint.
The finished flowers are set in a painted wooden frame and topped with a ribbon hanger, creating a handmade piece of wall art that’s perfect for decorating or gifting.
The event is open to ages 11-17. Registration is required and can be done on the library’s website: midlib.org.
In addition to all of the fun programs running throughout the week, kids are encouraged to sign up for the Library’s Read, Renew, Repeat Reading challenge for a chance to win prizes. Visit the website or stop by the library for more information and to sign up.
