LAKEVILLE — An Apponequet high school student received scholarship funding from the Italian American Cultural Organization of South Shore on Monday, June 16.

Madeline Polochick, a student at Apponequet High School, was awarded $3,000 through the organization's “Spirit of Italian Culture” scholarship. Polochick and five other area graduates received scholarships.

“These exceptional students embody the spirit of Italian culture through their academic achievements, extracurricular involvement, and dedication to community service. The IACO scholarship committee was particularly impressed by their high GPAs and extensive participation in various activities,” a representative of the organization wrote in a press release.

The Italian American Cultural Organization of South Shore aims to promote and disseminate Italian culture. It recognizes “outstanding contributions of Italian Americans.”
