Americana on parade at annual North Middleboro July 4 celebration
MIDDLEBORO — Middleboro celebrated America with a truly American collection of features during the Fourth of July parade in North Middleboro Tuesday morning.
Participants traveled the parade route on a variety of transports, including go-karts, motorcycles, tractors, Jeeps, a horse and even a Beetle (of the Volkswagen variety.)
Floats of various themes, including a Hawaiian luau and Washington crossing the Delaware, added to the fun.
Despite rain that grew in intensity as the parade went on, audience members smiled and cheered as the attractions passed them by.
The parade had a decidedly hometown feel, the kind of event where a woman made a quick trip to one of the floats to show a friend the new grandchild in her arms.
Becky and Craig Mancusi recently moved to Middleboro. They previously attended July Fourth parades in other communities, but were excited to check out the celebration in their new hometown.
“It’s beautiful awesome,’’ Becky said.
Not all attendees lived in town.
Kathi Pratt of Weymouth makes the trek every year from Weymouth.
“My grandchildren love it,’’ she said.
