Alma J. (Maida) Dowling, 93

MIDDLEBOROUGH  -  Alma J. (Maida) Dowling, age 93, of Middleborough, formerly of Carver, died peacefully on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at the Hannah B.G. Shaw Home in Middleborough.

Alma was the daughter of the late Nicholas & Margaret (Frazetti) Maida.  She was born and grew up in Needham, attended public schools and was a graduate of Needham High School.  Alma married James and together they started their family.  She was a homemaker and later worked as a cashier for Roche Brothers Supermarkets for many years.  Alma was a fantastic cook and baker; she loved entertaining and spending time with her family and friends especially at the holidays.  She enjoyed knitting and crocheting too.  Alma was the "one" that family members and friends went to, whether to get a recipe, for a chat, or some advice; she was loved and will be deeply missed.

Alma was the beloved wife for 54 years to the late James R. Dowling; loving mother of Andrea Gilbert & her husband Don of Carver and Lisa Casey of Buzzards Bay; cherished grandmother of Victoria Freestone of Taunton and great-grandmother of Andrew Freestone of Taunton; and dear sister of the late Lillian Backstrom and Janet Sullivan.  She was the mother-in-law of the late John Casey.

There will be NO visiting hours.

Family and Friends are welcome to the Graveside Service at the Central Cemetery, Main Street, Route 58, CARVER, on Friday, October 3, 2025, at 11:00 AM.
