All aboard: Memorial Early Childhood Center’s Polar Express returns

Dec 23, 2022

MIDDLEBORO — Memorial Early Childhood Center students punched their tickets to the Polar Express to ring in the holidays.

Rewarded with a pajama day to celebrate the season, kindergartners and pre-kindergartners lined up outside the auditorium with golden tickets on Wednesday, Dec. 21.

Students listened to holiday-themed stories, sang carols, and watched clips from the Polar Express to cultivate the holiday spirit.

“It was special to have everyone in the auditorium without restrictions,” Principal Jeremy Gobeil said. “Students and staff love this event and Mrs. Iveson and Ms. Florio do a wonderful job putting it together.”

This was the first edition of the Polar Express event without restrictions since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. The event has been a school tradition for years, according to Gobeil, and the smiles on the faces of students and staff showed how welcome its return was.
