15 town-elected seats up for reelection in Middleboro, see who is vying to fill them
MIDDLEBORO — Competitive races for the Middleboro Select Board and School Committee seats are beginning to shape up for this year’s town election.
Candidates for Middleboro’s elected offices have begun submitting nomination papers for the Annual Town Election in April. Candidates have until Feb. 13 to get the 50 signatures from voters needed to get a spot on the ballot.
As of Wednesday Jan. 15, three people are running for two seats on the Select Board. Incumbents Mark Germain, the chair, and member Thomas White are running for reelection and current Planning Board clerk Tracie Craig-McGee is entering the race as well.
On the School Committee, three, three year terms are up for election. The terms for incumbents Jessica Chartoff and Allin Frawley expired this year, and an additional seat was added to the committee following Special Town Meeting in October.
In addition, there is a vacancy for a single seat with a one-year term limit.
Frawley and Chartoff have submitted their papers for reelection, and four non-incumbent candidates — Alexander Cook, Leah Machado, Krysten Phillips and Robert Sullivan — are also running for the three, three-year term seats. Kimberly Redlon, who currently works as Student Services Administrator for Dartmouth Public Schools, is running for the one-year term seat.
The finance committee has three positions up for election, and all incumbents Nathan Demers, Matthew Phillips and Alan Kirschner have submitted papers for reelection. No other candidates have put their name in the ring.
Other available positions include seats on the Board of Assessors, Planning Board and commissioners for the Parks Department and Gas and Electric.
The last day to register to vote in the Annual Town Election is March 25. To stay up to date on what candidates have submitted nomination papers, visit the Town Clerk’s candidate page on their website.
