LAKEVILLE — A sold-out crowd filled the ballroom at Oak Point on Saturday, May 10, for “Oak Point’s Got Talent,” a talent show sponsored by the community’s Car Club.

The event raised $3,949 for the Sacred Heart Food Pantry through ticket sales, donations and a raffle.

Tickets were priced at $10 each, and all 310 seats — the venue’s maximum capacity — were sold ahead of the event. Total revenue from ticket sales and donations came to $3,189.

A 50/50 raffle also brought in $1,120. The winner, Sue Dooley-Curran, donated $200 of her $560 winnings back to the cause, bringing the final total raised to $3,949.

The show was organized by Car Club Vice President John Finiello. Louanne Boari managed ticket sales. Steve Lunetta served as sound technician and provided musical support during rehearsals. Paul Gallant acted as stagehand, and Bob Steidinger and Dave Clay handled crowd control.

“This was truly a team effort!” Sylvia wrote in an email.

Performers, all Oak Point residents, rehearsed multiple times in the weeks leading up to the show. They also covered the costs of their own costumes and props in order to maximize the funds raised for the food pantry.

Sylvia and Finiello presented the  $3,949 check to David Cunningham, Director of the food pantry on May 17.
