Ferreira goes from interim to permanent police chief
Jan 28, 2025
MIDDLEBORO — Interim Middleboro Police Chief Robert Ferreira is now the town’s permanent police chief.
When Ferreira was appointed in October 2024 as police chief, the position was interim. He was given the option to notify the select board by Jan. 10 if he wanted to be named to the post on a permanent basis.
He made that request in a letter dated Jan. 3. The select board approved the request at its Jan. 28 meeting.
His position as permanent chief begins Feb. 1 and runs through Jan. 31. 2026, which reflects the terms of his employment agreement.
Ferreira replaced long-time chief Joseph Perkins, who retired in 2024.
