Parade celebrates state champion Sachems

MIDDLEBORO — The Middleboro High School softball team rode around town on the bed of an 18-wheeler truck on June 18 to be recognized for their dominant season which culminated in a state championship win.
The team was honored one day after the Middleboro Sachems clinched the trophy — and the school’s first state championship in girls’ sports — with a 15-3 win over Norton High School at UMass Amherst’s Sortino Field.
The route took the team from the high school to Wareham Street and back. A crowd gathered — some with homemade signs — to cheer for the champions.
