The suspicious death of a Lakeville woman is being investigated by prosecutors, State Police detectives assigned to the Bristol County district attorney’s office and Taunton Police, according to the district attorney’s office.

Taunton Police received a 911 call at about 11 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 21 from an apartment at 52 Tremont St. in Taunton regarding a woman suffering from a gunshot wound, the district attorney’s office reported.  

When first responders arrived they located the victim, later identified as Colby Dowling, 26, of Lakeville. She was declared dead at the scene.

 Several people were inside the apartment at the time of the incident, the district attorney’s office reported. 

 Due to the ongoing nature of this investigation, no further information can be released at this time, the district attorney’s office said.
