Schools receive state funds for mental health services
Two local schools received state funding to bolster their behavioral and mental health services and support.
READS Collaborative in Middleboro has been awarded $94,140 and Bristol-Plymouth Regional Vocational Technical School received $43,800, according to information provided by Gov. Maura Healey’s office.
The funding can be used to create or expand comprehensive, integrated systems of student support and aims, through collaboration with families and educators, to build strong local school partnerships with community-based mental health agencies and/or providers, according to Healey’s office.
The Department of Elementary and Secondary Education will also be providing related professional development for school district staff.
Bristol-Plymouth Regional Vocational Technical, which includes students from Middleboro, is located in Taunton.
READS Collaborative aims to provide schools all over Southeastern Massachusetts with access to specialized services to aid students with particular needs that school districts wouldn’t be able to afford on their own, READS Executive Director Dina Medeiros has said. The collaborative recently celebrated its 50th anniversary.
