Roger W. Williams, 77

Jan 2, 2024

MIDDLEBOROUGH  -  Roger W. Williams, age 77, of Middleborough, passed away on Sunday, December 31, 2023, after a brief illness, at Saint Elizabeth's Medical Center in Brighton.

Roger was the beloved husband of Ellen F. (Morrison) Williams for 52 years.  Anyone who saw them together knew what true love looked like.  He was a friend, an adventurer, a family man, and a mind that never tired of learning new things or visiting new places.

Although he was a dyed in the wool Yankee, being born in Saint Luke's Hospital when it was in Middleborough, and working as a foreman and heavy equipment operator for Edgewood Cranberry Bogs until his retirement, he did travel about the country with his wife often.  They both loved their horses and always owned beautiful Appaloosas, but when they traveled far afield to places like New Mexico, Colorado, Nebraska, Montana, California, Wyoming, South Dakota, and Utah, they did not hesitate to ride ranch horses and join the cattle drives or venture out on the mesas there.

Roger was a member of the National Guard as well as the Cross State Trail Riders, and the Dog River Horse Club.

Roger leaves behind his wife, Ellen; his son, Wayne & his wife Danielle and their children and grandchildren; his sister, Carolyn Clarke; his nieces, Elizabeth Clarke, Arden Clarke and Heather Sudbury as well as innumerable friends.  He was the son of the late Frank & Doris (Delano) Williams.

Roger's sense of humor, his willingness to help young equestrians, and his ability to build or repair almost anything will be just some of the qualities that those who knew him will dearly miss.

No memorial services are planned as those who loved him will hold him in their hearts without formality or ceremony, just as Roger lived.
