MIDDLEBORO — Middleboro High School sophomore Eleanor Jackson was the winner of the annual American Legion District 10 Oratorical Contest held Sunday, Jan. 18 at the American Legion post in Sandwich.
She will now continue on to the state competition.
She spoke about the birth of America, how the government serves the people and how people serve the government. The contest requires participants to display a deep knowledge of the Constitution.
The American Legion’s National Oratorical Contest, established in 1938, challenges high school students to explore the U.S. Constitution while building confidence, leadership and public speaking skills.
