Middleboro to celebrate July 4 with fireworks, parade, carnival

MIDDLEBORO — Fireworks are only part of the celebration.

Middleboro is gearing up for a parade and carnival as well as the traditional fireworks during a week-long celebration. 

Fireworks will be set off at 10 p.m. Saturday July 1 at Battis Field, Jackson Street.

The July 4 parade steps off at 10 a.m. at Titicut Green on Plymouth Street.

Other July 4 special activities include a watermelon eating contest and greasy pole event at 1 p.m. July 4 at the Pierce playground complex on Jackson Street.

The annual carnival will take place from Friday, June 30 to Saturday July 8  at the Pierce playground complex on Jackson Street.

Hours are: Friday June 30, 6 to 10 p.m.; Saturday, July 1, 6 to 11 p.m.; Sunday, July 2, 2 to 10 p.m.; Monday, July 3, 6 to 10 p.m.; Tuesday, July 4, 2 to 10 p.m.; Thursday, July 6, 6 to 10 p.m.; Friday, July 7, 6 to 10 p.m.; Saturday, July 8, 2 to 10 p.m.

The carnival is closed Wednesday, July 5.
