Local Girl Scouts honor veteran sacrifices on Memorial Day weekend

LAKEVILLE — Lakeville and Freetown Girl Scouts gathered Saturday, May 27 to honor Memorial Day.
The girls gathered at Freetown Memorial Park to hear from Scout parents retired Army Captains George Jacome and Jen Matos.
Following a brief discussion, troops traveled to White’s Cemetery where they replaced American flags at Veterans graves.
This is an annual transition for the scouts.
“These Girl Scouts are our future leaders, ‘’ Troop Leader Michelle Hecht said. “And we are proud to help them learn about and honor those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom on Memorial Day.”
