Larry Dutra, 67

MIDDLEBOROUGH  -  Larry Dutra, age 67, of Middleborough, died peacefully on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at the Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Plymouth.

Born and raised in Middleborough, he was the son of the late Henry A. & Theda I. (Walker) Dutra.  Larry attended public schools and graduated from Middleborough High School, Class of 1978.  For over 30 years, he worked in Shipping & Receiving for the Winthrop-Atkins  Manufacturing Company, formerly located in Middleborough, until the company closed.  For the last 10 years, Larry worked as a Shipper for PolyBond North America located in Norwood.

He was very active with the Middleboro Elks Lodge #1274, serving as a member, helping with functions, cooking on Saturday nights for 10 years, serving on the House Committee for five years, and being named Elk of the Year—an honor he was very proud to receive.  Larry was also a member of the Mitchell Memorial Club in Middleborough.  In his free time, he enjoyed gardening, bird watching and cooking; he was a great cook!  Larry was an animal lover, he loved dogs and cats.  He bonded so well with dogs and cats that they were always attracted to him, resulting in perfect matches!  He was selfless, generous and an all around good guy.  Larry was the perfect example of "everybody knows your name".  He was the love of Susan's life and will forever be missed by family and friends.

Larry was the beloved husband of Susan (Piava) Dutra; loving father of Derek Dutra of Middleborough and Matthew Dutra & his husband Nicholas Dutra of Boston; dear brother of Mark Dutra & his wife Sharon of Middleborough and the late David & Myra Dutra.  He is also survived by many dear nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

There will be NO visiting hours.

Family and friends are welcome to attend Larry's Graveside Service at Saint Mary's Cemetery, Wood Street, Middleborough, on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at 11:00 AM.
