Lakeville Senior Center announces June activities
LAKEVILLE — The Senior Center, 1 Dear Crossing, will host a range of events in June ranging from a Father’s Day gameday to a cafe celebrating the Council on Aging’s 20th anniversary.

Senior Center outreach services are available by appointment only from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Mondays and Tuesdays. These services provide information about programs available to seniors and help seniors complete applications for discounts.
Yoga, Stretch, and Strengthen will take place every Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m.
Old Colony Elder Services’ Congregate Meals will take place at 11:30 a.m. every Tuesday and Thursday, except for June 22nd and 27th. Starting July 1, Congregate Meals will move to Mondays and Tuesdays every week.
Mah Jongg takes place from 10 a.m. to noon every Wednesday.
Healthy Hearts happens every Wednesday from 10 to 10:45 a.m.
Tai Chi runs from 1 to 2 p.m. every Wednesday.
Lakeville Crafters meet every Wednesday from 1 to 3 p.m.
Line Dancing begins at 2:30 p.m. every Wednesday.
Men’s Social Club takes place Thursdays from 10 a.m. to noon.
The Veterans’ Agent will stop by every Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Creative Writing starts at 1:30 p.m. every Friday.
The COA Cafe is open from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. every Friday. Food and drinks are free, and donations are welcome but not required.
A representative from the Lakeville Select Board will be at the Senior Center from 10 to 11 a.m. on Friday, June 9.
Representative Norm Orrall will be at the Senior Center from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Monday, June 12.
An essential oils recipe class will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, June 13. Attendees will learn how to create essential oils that have a variety of summer uses. Sign ups are required.
Book club is scheduled from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 13. The novel ‘The Friday Night Knitting Club’ by Kate Jacobs will be discussed.
The monthly trip to Target on the COA van is scheduled for Wednesday, June 14.
The movie ‘Fever Pitch,’ about a die-hard Boston Red Sox fan who has to balance his love for the team with the rest of his life, will be shown on Thursday, June 15, at 1 p.m. Admission is $2 and attendees must call ahead to sign up.
The Friends of the Council on Aging will meet at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, June 16.
Nutrition Simplified with Registered Dietician Ashely Whewell takes place at 1 p.m. on Friday, June 16.
The Senior Center will be closed on Monday, June 19, for the Juneteenth holiday.
Lawyer Lindsey M. Cavallaro from law firm Cody, Cody, and McCarthy, will host a program about elder law on Tuesday, June 20, at 1 p.m.
Arts and Crafts with Amy on Wednesday, June 21, at 10 a.m. will feature a create-your-own hummingbird feeder workshop. The cost is $20 for materials and instruction, and attendees must sign up in advance.
On Thursday, June 22, starting at 11 a.m., the Council on Aging will host a Father’s Day gameday for the Boston Red Sox vs. Minnesota Twins game. The Lakeville Lions Club will serve hot dogs, hamburgers, and side dishes, and Council on Aging volunteers will serve root beer and orange cream soda floats. There will be a Red Sox speaker who will bring a Red Sox World Series trophy.
Attorney Adam Bond will be at the Senior Center from 10 to 11 a.m. to meet with seniors in free, 20-minute consultations by appointment only.
Senator Michael Rodrigues will be at the Senior Center from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 28.
Brain Builders, a community program that helps attendees enhance their brain fitness, is scheduled for Thursday, June 29, at 1 p.m.
The Senior Center will hold a Vicennial Cafe celebrating its 20-year anniversary on Friday, June 30. Guest speaker Marilyn Mansfield will attend and talk about the formation and history of the Council on Aging.
The COA van offers twice-weekly trips to grocery stores: Hannaford on Tuesdays and Trucchi’s on Wednesdays. The cost for a round-trip ride is $3.50, and 10-ride passes cost $15. Call the office at least 24 hours in advance to schedule a ride.
