Lakeville-based bagpipe band gears up for St. Patrick’s Day

Mar 4, 2025

LAKEVILLE — Old Colony Highlanders Pipe Band, which practices in Lakeville, will be out and about playing the bagpipes throughout eastern Massachusetts from March 15 to 17.

The band will be performing at the Patriot Place Irish Festival on March 15 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at various locations throughout Patriot Place in Foxboro.

Immediately following the festival, the band will be conducting a pub crawl starting in the Foxboro region where they will visit several establishments along Route 1, then head east to Taunton, Easton, West Bridgewater and finishing up in Raynham.

Pub crawls are fund-raising events for the band to help cover the cost of such items as instruments and uniforms. Old Colony Highlanders band members carpool from location to location, playing a few tunes at each. Donations are accepted and band merchandise is available.

The band will be conducting a second pub crawl on Sunday, March 16 that starts at Red Hand Brewery in Lakeville at noon and hits locations throughout Middleboro, Carver, Plymouth, Hanson, Pembroke and Marshfield.

On St Patrick’s Day, the Old Colony Highlanders pipe major and pipe corporal will be performing at Brack’s Tavern in Middleboro.

A schedule of locations and times for these pub crawls can be found on the band’s website, www.OldColonyHighlanders.org, as well as the band’s social media on Facebook and Instagram.

Old Colony Highlanders is the most accomplished bagpipe band in the region, having been ranked as the number one bagpipe band in its division in the eastern United States in 2024.

The band welcomes new members and offers lessons in bagpiping and drumming at no profit to the band to those wishing to play with the band. Private lessons are also available.
