MIDDLEBOROUGH - Jeffery Charles Cummings, age 65, of Middleborough, died peacefully at his home surrounded with love by his family on Tuesday, March 18, 2025.

Born in Brockton, he was the son of the late Barbara (Burrell) Neas & Ralph Cummings. Jeff grew up in Brockton and was a graduate of Brockton High School, Class of 1977. For four years, he proudly served in the US Army, earning the rank of Sergeant and was honorably discharged in 1983. He started working for the Veterans Administration/VA Hospital in Brockton, doing various nursing duties, then transferred to housekeeping and later to laundry, where he became the Supervisor of the department. Jeff worked in the VA Hospitals network for 37 years and retired in 2015. He did continue working at several part-time jobs but eventually fully retired. Jeff kept busy doing hobbies that he enjoyed; gardening, swimming, fishing and grilling at family cookouts, if someone else was attempting to do the grilling, Jeff would step right in and take over all duties with grilling as he made himself the one in charge of grilling! He was always there for anyone in need, "his door was always open for anyone", he was there to help. At Christmastime, he would dress up in a Santa Claus suit to amuse everyone at the family gatherings; anything to make others laugh! Jeff loved spending time with family, friends and the "grandbabies". He was a loving and devoted husband and family man; he will be missed.

Jeffery was the beloved husband for 36 years to Brenda (Rose) Cummings; loving father of Jason Cummings, Lyndsay Lee Cummings & her husband Peter of Plympton, Jennifer Caraballo & her husband Javier of Raynham, Allan Cummings & Brittany of Middleborough, James Ducharme & his wife Billie Jean of Germany, Selena Cummings of Raynham and the late Desiree Ducharme; cherished grandfather of Matthew, CJ, Hunter, JR, Javan, Carter and Desiree; dear brother of Nancy Cummings of Middleborough, Dianne Donovan of Brockton, Denise Shallies of Bridgewater, Ralph Cummings of Bridgewater, and the late Paul Cummings and Paula Brady.

Family and friends are welcome to the visiting hours at the Ashley Funeral Home, 35 Oak Street, Middleborough, on Sunday, March 23, 2025, from 3:00-7:00 PM.

Funeral and interment services will be private.
