Herring events to make a splash in Middleboro
MIDDLEBORO — The Middleboro Tourism Committee will host Middleboro's 11th Annual Herring Run Festival on April 13 and 14 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Oliver Mill Park on Nemasket Street and Route 44.
There will be merchant vendors, food vendors, games, exhibits, demonstrations, live music, a beer garden and lots of herring.
Admission is free.
On Saturday, the National Anthem will be performed at 10:50 a.m. by Marianna McCallum. The remaining entertainment schedule for Saturday is:
11 a.m.: Kait and the Best Buds
12:10 p.m.: Alex & Jake
1:20 p.m.: Dennis Lewoczko
2 p.m.: Dave Jackson & Karen Woodall
2:40 p.m.: Ann Cavanaugh & Mike Salafia
On Sunday, the National Anthem will be performed at 10:50 a.m. by Lily Jeswald. The remaining entertainment schedule for Sunday is:

Free parking is available at Middleboro Town Hall at 10 Nickerson Ave., Jackson Street, and the Council on Aging, 558 Plymouth St. A shuttle will pick up and transport attendees to the festival. Paid parking is available at 99 North St for $5 a car. Handicapped accessible parking is available at the Council

The town’s famous herring will also be celebrated at an April school vacation week event.
The Bruce Spooner Education Center at Taunton River Watershed Alliance is offering a special school vacation week program that is free and open to all ages.
On Tuesday, April 16 at 10 a.m. the Middleboro-Lakeville Herring Fishery Commission will conduct a program on the river herring life cycle. A short talk will be followed by a chance to see the fish up close and perhaps catch them by hand. Meet at the Wareham Street Herring Run, 47 Wareham St., Middleboro.
