‘Hares’ the contestants for Soule Homestead’s Sweetheart Fundraiser
MIDDLEBORO — Two furry residents at Soule Homestead Education Center are “hoppy” to help raise funds for repairs to their home.
Flake, a Florida White rabbit, and Coffee, a Flemish Giant, are the two contestants for the homestead’s Sweetheart Fundraiser. Visitors can donate in either of the rabbits’ names, and whichever receives more donations wins the title of “Soule Sweetheart.”
These funds will go towards repairs on the farm’s small animals barn, home to the two rabbits and several chickens and ducks.
“We love all of our animals equally, but it's great to help us be silly and raise some money for the support of the farm,” said Kelly MacDonald Weeks, the homestead’s executive director.
She said Flake is a shyer animal but has been coming out of his shell recently, while Coffee is adventurous and silly.
“They're very different bunnies, but they're both really sweet, so either one is well deserving of the title,” she said.
