Happiness rains down at community baby shower
MIDDLEBORO -- Attendees were in the pink and no one was blue at the town’s first community baby shower.
The event, which was held March 28 at Town Hall, provided resources, giveaways and advice for new and expectant parents.
About 60 families attended, Health Director Kayla Smith said. Turnout was “phenomenal,’’ she said. “This was probably my favorite event I’ve ever hosted.’’
Feedback was very positive, she said.
Vendors offered information on an array of topics, including lactation, free clothing programs, medical services, childbirth education and mothers’ support organization.
One hundred backpacks were distributed, filled with items for new parents, courtesy of Indus. Middleboro Elks also sponsored the event
The chances of the town repeating the event next year, Smith said, are “one thousand percent.’’
She thanked select board members Mark Germain, Bill Pike and Tom White for attending. The select board also serves as the Board of Health.
