Arthur Tripp Edgerly, 91
Arthur Tripp Edgerly, age 91, of Middleboro MA and Venice FL, died peacefully on March 21, 2026. Born on November 8, 1934 in Beverly, MA, Arthur was the son of the late Julien Joslin Edgerly and Elizabeth Baylies Tripp. He is pre-deceased by his wife of 60 years, Joan Chenard Edgerly.
Arthur grew up in Fall River, MA and graduated from Bryant College. He started his career at Stop and Shop, where he met Joan. He received a scholarship from Stop and Shop to get his Masters at Cornell University, and earned his degree there in agricultural economics in 1960. Arthur later founded Edgerly Associates, a personnel recruitment company. He also enjoyed teaching marketing courses at local colleges.
Together they raised their family in Bridgewater, MA, and Middleboro MA, moving to their lake house in Middleboro on Lake Assawompsett in 1979. Arthur and Joan enjoyed a long retirement in Venice, FL during winters and came back to the lake for summers with all the family.
He is survived by his two daughters, Kathleen Ryan and her husband Gregory of Randolph, MA, and Donna Freidenfeld and her husband David of Round Rock TX. Arthur was the proud grandfather to Benjamin, Nathaniel, Margaret, Hannah, Erin, and Catherine. He leaves behind his extended family including many nieces and nephews, and also his friends at the lake and in Venice FL.
Art cherished his family life at the lake deeply and will be remembered for all the long walks with family to the white banks and the mouth of the river. He leaves behind a legacy of love, family, and a strong work ethic. A small, private celebration of Art’s life will be held on a future date.
Art had a special place in his heart for his birds and ducks at the lake. In lieu of flowers, we kindly ask that donations in his memory be made to the Massachusetts Audubon Society.
