Girl Scouts shine light on mental health for Silver Award

Mar 26, 2025

MIDDLEBORO — Lily Silva, Mackenzie Nelson, Paige Silva, and Sophia Terrizzi of Middleboro Girl Scout Troop 62922 recently completed their Silver Award project on Self-Care and Mental Health.

The Silver Award is the highest award a Cadette Girl Scout can earn, and it requires 50 hours of work on a project. They hosted a workshop on Feb. 8.

The girls’ project is intended to educate young girls on the importance of self-care on mental health. A mental health therapist, nutritionist, CeraVe sales rep, and yoga instructor spoke to the attendees.

As part of their project, the girls also made pamphlets for the girls at the workshop. The pamphlets contain information about mental health and contact information for the speakers. The pamphlets can be found in the teen area at the Middleboro Public Library.

The girls then created a Google Classroom after the workshop with the contact information of all the speakers and pictures from the event. They surveyed the participants with a Google Form about their experience at the workshop.
