Six Middleboro and Lakeville residents will compete in the 32nd annual Buzzards Bay Swim on Saturday, June 28.

More than 275 swimmers are registered to swim 1.2 miles across New Bedford’s Outer Harbor from Cisco Brewers Kitchen and Bar to Fort Phoenix in Fairhaven. Six swimmers are from Middleboro and Lakeville, according to organizers.

Organized by the Buzzards Bay Coalition, the event supports clean water initiatives in the region. The Buzzards Bay Swim, established in 1994, is open to swimmers ages 11 and up. The 1.2 mile point-to-point open water course showcases landmarks like the Butler Flats Lighthouse and the New Bedford Hurricane Barrier.
