Poems of Light at the True Grit Art Gallery
True Grit Art Gallery will present Poems of Light, a solo exhibit featuring over 50 works of fine art photography by Lakeville artist Gan Barber.
The reception will be held on Saturday, May 10, from 6 to 8 p.m. at 38 Center St. in Middleboro. Guests can meet Barber, enjoy adult refreshments, and immerse themselves in his luminous, nature-inspired works. This exhibit will run from its opening night through the end of the month.
According to True Grit Art Gallery, Barber, transforms the beauty of natural landscapes into vibrant, living compositions through his lens.
Each photograph in Poems of Light is meticulously crafted and printed on cotton rag paper using archival pigment inks, showcasing delicate pastels, rich palettes, and dynamic black-and-white tones.
Guided by intuition, Barber said he captures the mysteries of nature — hills, meadows, woods, trees, water and the ever-changing drama of clouds and light. His work, as he describes it, is a “poem of light,” inviting viewers to pause and discover the sublime in the ordinary, from delicate flora to sweeping ocean vistas.
At the opening reception, attendees can engage with Barber to learn about his creative process and the stories behind his images. Alcohol will be served.
Poems of Light runs through May 31 with regular hours on Tuesdays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Wednesdays through Fridays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission is free, and all are welcome to the opening reception on May 10.
