MIDDLEBOROUGH GAS & ELECTRIC
INVITATION FOR BIDS
Pursuant to M.G.L. c. 30, § 39M, the Middleborough Gas & Electric Department (“MGED”) seeks sealed bids for the provision of tree trimming and removal services around MGED’s electric distribution lines. MGED owns approximately 290 miles of pole line in its service territory, both transmission and distribution. The services shall be provided over a three-year period. The work shall include the furnishing of all vehicles, equipment, supplies, materials, supervision and labor, including all other incidental services necessary to perform the work as set forth in the specifications.
Sealed bids shall be submitted to the Middleborough Gas & Electric Department, 32 South Main Street, Middleborough, Massachusetts 02346, ATTN: Ali Golz , no later than 11 A.M., Thursday May 30, 2024. The bid documents may be obtained at the above address on/after May 16, 2024 or by contacting Ali Golz at bids@mged.com. Bids will be opened on May 30, 2024 at 11AM at the administration office located at 32 South Main Street, Middleboro MA 02346.
All prospective bidders must notify Ali Golz, Executive / Human Resources Analyst, Middleboro Gas & Electric Department, bids@mged.com, of your intention to submit bid by Thursday May 23, 2024
Each bid shall be accompanied by a bid deposit in the amount of five (5) percent of the value of the bid in the form of cash, bid bond, or certified bank made payable to the Middleborough Gas & Electric Department. Bid security will be returned to the unsuccessful bidders after the bid award. The successful bidder will be required to furnish a Performance Bond and Payment Bond, each in the amount of 50% of the total estimated contract price and issued by a company authorized to do business in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. No bidder may withdraw his bid for a period of ninety (90) days, excluding Saturdays, Sundays, and legal holidays, after the deadline for the opening bids.
Wage rates for this project are subject to minimum wage rates per M.G.L., Chapter 149, Sections 26 to 27G, inclusive as determined by the Director of Labor and Workforce Development, Commonwealth of Massachusetts and also to issuing Statements of Compliance, true and accurate payroll records and reports in connection with Prevailing Wage Laws.
Bidding and the award of a contract shall be conducted in full compliance with Chapter 30, Section 39M, of the Massachusetts General Laws, inclusive as last revised, with such award made to the lowest responsible and eligible bidder.
MGED reserves the right to reject any or all bids and waive minor irregularities and informalities in any or all bids, if deemed in the best interest of MGED to do so.

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
According to the provisions of Massachusetts General Laws, Chapter 131, Section 40 of the Wetlands Protection Act, there will be a hearing on a Notice of Intent submitted by Thomas Long, for construction of an in-ground swimming pool with associated patio and grading within 100’ of a bordering vegetated wetland. The location of the project is 13 Brookstone Drive, Lakeville (Map 013 Block 001 Lot 014). The public hearing will be held on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at 7:00p.m. at the Lakeville Police Station, 323 Bedford St., Lakeville.

PLYMOUTH STREET WATER METER VAULT
The Town of Middleboro, MA, Department of Public Works, invites sealed bids for “Town of Middleboro Plymouth Street Water Meter Vault”, in accordance with the Contract Documents prepared by BETA GROUP, INC., 701 George Washington Highway, Lincoln, RI, 02865. Bids will be received at the Middleboro DPW, 65 Sachem Street, MA 02346 until 2:00 PM local time on Wednesday, June 5, 2024 at which time and place, said Bids will be publicly opened and read aloud. A non-mandatory pre-bid conference will be held on May 22, 2024 at 10:00 AM at 984 Plymouth Street. The work in this Contract includes the installation of a water meter vault, electric service, remote telemetry unit, and associated appurtenances. The Contractor shall begin work within 30 calendar days of receipt of a Notice to Proceed. This contract shall be completed within 160 days from the issuance of a Notice to Proceed. Contract Documents may be obtained electronically on or after May 15, 2024, by emailing requests for bid documents to Plymouth-Street-2024-Bids@BETA-inc.com. There will be no fee for Contract Documents. Bidders requesting Contract Documents shall provide a contact person with all relevant contact information. The LAKEVILLE PLANNING BOARD will hold a public hearing pursuant to the Town of Lakeville Code Bylaws and M.G.L. ch. 40A §5 on THURSDAY, May 23, 2024 at 7:00 PM. at the Lakeville Police Station Meeting Room, 323 Bedford Street. The purpose of the public hearing is to provide interested parties with an opportunity to comment on a proposed amendment to the Town of Lakeville Code Bylaws by deleting in its entirety Chapter 270, § 270-7.5 Mixed Use Development District regulations and to amend the following Sections of the Town Code Bylaws by deleting Chapter 270, §270-3.1, Zoning districts, Chapter 270, §270-3.2, Location of districts, and to amend the Zoning Map by removing the Mixed-Use Development District.
