TAUNTON – Lakeville resident Douglas Hagerty is being held without bail at Dartmouth House of Corrections after a dangerousness hearing held at Taunton District Court on Tuesday, Oct. 17.

Hagerty is facing multiple charges including assault and battery with intent to murder after allegedly stabbing five Taunton police officers on Tuesday, Sept. 26.

According to Bristol County District Attorney spokesperson Gregg Miliote, Hagerty was found dangerous at the hearing.

According to Taunton Police Department reports, Hagerty “crashed into multiple police cruisers” during a motor vehicle stop and sped away from the scene. Taunton police officers pursued Hagerty’s vehicle, a gray 2010 Honda Accord, to an apartment located at 55 West Britannia Street in Taunton.

Hagerty allegedly stabbed two Taunton police officers during a struggle in the stairway of the apartment, according to reports. Hagerty then barricaded himself in the apartment.

According to reports, officers gave verbal commands for Hagerty to show himself. They then broke the apartment’s windows and entered the building. Officers tased Hagerty before breaching his bedroom door, according to reports.

Hagerty then charged at the officers including Taunton Police Chief Edward Walsh, who was stabbed in the abdomen, reports claim.
