Drive-In Movie
Starting at 6 p.m., on Friday Oct. 13th, the Middleboro Parks department will be screening the film “The Nightmare Before Christmas” at 26 Jackson Street at the lower ball fields. There is a suggested donation of $10.
Saturday, Oct. 14
Church in the Pines Harvest Festival
The Church in the Pines will host its second annual Harvest Festival on Saturday, Oct. 14. The festival will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. at 30 East Street in Middleboro.
This event is completely free and activities will include a bounce house, petting zoo, face painting, hayrides and live music. There will be giveaways, crafts, food and more.
Families are encouraged to dress in their costumes and there will be trick-or-treating opportunities at various stations.
Pick your own pumpkin at the Elliot Farm Harvest Festival
Elliot Farm is hosting the third annual Harvest Festival on Saturday, Oct. 14. The festival will be held from 1 to 5 p.m.
The festival will feature live music from ARLO, a pick your own pumpkin patch, a petting zoo and more.
All proceeds from the event will be donated to provide local families in need with essential groceries and farm fresh produce in 2024.
The farm stand will remain open to the public for shopping throughout the festival.
Elliot Farm’s parking lot will be closed for festival activities. Limited on-street parking will be available. Additional parking is available at the Lakeville Lion’s Club (170 Main Street) and the Lakeville Church of Nazarene (180 Main Street). The sidewalk is accessible for guests to safely walk to the farm.

Crantoberfest Returns
The Middleboro Tourism Committee is hosting the 10th annual Crantoberfest on Saturday, Oct. 14 from 12 to 5 p.m. The event will be held at the Middleboro Town Hall. Both parking and admission are free.
At 1 p.m., the great Cranberry Bakeoff will take place, in which judges will evaluate different baked goods containing cranberries.
At 2 p.m., a new Ms. Crantoberfest will be appointed for the year. The winner receives a crown and sash and gets to represent Middleboro Tourism at various events throughout the year.
Cranberry Games will be available all day for kids of all ages at no charge.
There will be food, and merchandise vendors, a beer garden, and Middleboro merchandise available for purchase.

Protect your eyes
A partial solar eclipse will be visible in Massachusetts on Saturday, Oct. 14. A partial solar eclipse is when only part of the moon covers the sun, resulting in the sun having a crescent shape.
It is dangerous to look at a solar eclipse without the appropriate protective eyewear. Throughout the day, the Middleboro Public Library will have free solar eclipse glasses, while supplies last.
From 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., the library will also be broadcasting live videos of what the solar eclipse looks like in other parts of the country

Middleboro dog show to award prizes
Who’s the best “good boy”? On Sunday, Oct. 15, Middleboro will answer the question once and for all at the PAW-fection Pup Show starting at 3 p.m at The Alley Theatre.
The dog show is a family friendly event that will judge dogs based on four categories: “puppy love” (for dogs less than a year old), “gorgeous girl,” “good boy,” and “golden hour” (for dogs over nine years old). Dogs will walk on a red carpet at the show, and shelter dogs will compete at the show as well.
The show will be hosted by Eric Matthew, a former contestant on the HBO TV show Haute Dog, and an experienced dog groomer who has participated in dog shows like the Westminster Dog Show.

Concert at the Library
At 2 p.m., Kim Moberg and Heather Swanson will be playing music at the Middleboro Public Library. Attendees will be able to purchase light refreshments. The event is being put on by the Friends of the Middleboro Public Library.
Theatre One presents “Only Humans Bleed”
Theatre One will present “Only Humans Bleed” on Sunday, Oct. 15 at 2 p.m. The play, written by George Smart, is part of Theatre One’s new program “Stage Readings of New Works of MA and RI Playwrights.”
The play, attended for mature audiences, depicts drastic measures being taken due to climate change in the year 2050.
Doors open at 1:30 p.m. at the Mitchell Memorial Club on 29 Elm Street in Middleboro. The reading will be followed by a question and answer session with the playwright. Admissions cost $10 at the door.

Make your own Thanksgiving wreath or door hanger
The Lakeville Senior Center will be hosting an arts and crafts activity on Wednesday, Oct. 18th at 10 a.m. For $20, participants will learn how to make either a Thanksgiving wreath or a door hanger. All art supplies are included in admission.
Thursday, Oct 19
Murder on the Dance Floor
The Lakeville Council on Aging gym will become a fictional crime scene starting on 12 p.m.. Dress up in “puffy sleeved prom gowns” or “white and black suits or tuxes” to attend a 1950s themed prom party, but come prepared to solve a murder mystery when someone dies on the dancefloor. Work together to trade clues and figure out who the murder who ruined the party is.
