Local food, fun on the menu at Farm to Table

MIDDLEBORO — Farm to Table at Soule Homestead in Middleboro served as a delicious reminder of the joys of sharing a fresh, locally produced meal together, organizers said.

After a stormy Friday, the weather cleared and cooperated for a beautiful Saturday evening Aug. 19. Many new people attended, farm representatives reported.

The evening included a dinner featuring locally grown and raised produce and protein from farms across the region. The community effort featured pork raised at Soule and poultry from farmers at Revival Farm and Freedom Food Farm and locally sourced produce rounding out the entire menu.

John Hamilton served as the head chef, with his parents assisting as sous chefs.

After dinner but before dessert, visitors had time to walk the farm grounds.

Each meal had those attending making happy sounds after trying each portion of the meal, organizers said.

Ric Allendorf performed and a silent auction allowed visitors to bid on photos taken by Dave Wilcox of Soule animals.

Among those attending were farmers from Teedlebug Farm at Soule Homestead, Revival Farm in Plympton and Crooked Barn Flower Farm in Kingston.
