MIDDLEBORO — Friends of Middleboro Cemeteries encourage volunteers to join their efforts at town cemeteries.

This summer, projects have included restoring and repairing stones in the Reed/Gilbert Peirce Cemetery on Marion Road, which is scheduled to begin in a few weeks.

Broken stones will be put back together, while others will be sealed with epoxy or straightened.

Several years ago, the headstones of all Civil War veterans buried in Middleboro cemeteries were documented and cleaned. This summer the scope of the project has been expanded to include all military veterans buried in Middleboro. 

Updating 25-year-old documentation is also starting at the Cemetery at the Green.
