Muellin Hill student places second in state for fire prevention poster
LAKEVILLE — Mullein Hill Christian Academy in Lakeville has some hot news to report..
Eighth grader Naomi Noble, who is about to graduate from the academy, received first place in Plymouth County and second place in the state in a fire prevention poster contest.
Naomi received a trophy, which was presented by Lt. Ryan Silvia of the Lakeville Fire Department, and $200.
The Lakeville Fire Department also received a $1,500 grant toward fire safety education.
The poster contest was overseen at the academy by art teacher Elsie Goldstein.
The Arson Watch Reward Program is sponsored by the Property and Casualty Insurance Companies of Massachusetts and Rhode Island and is dedicated to reducing injury, death, and property loss due to arson fires. The program hosts a poster contest each year to support important fire safety messaging among school-age children. Students work collaboratively with their school and local fire department to draw an eye-catching poster supporting a relevant fire safety message.
