Three injured in Lakeville crash that temporarily closes Route 18
LAKEVILLE — Three people were transported to St. Luke’s Hospital after an accident that closed a portion of Route 18 just south of Lakeville Town Hall for about an hour Tuesday afternoon, Lakeville Police Chief Matthew Perkins reported.
The accident, which took place at about 12:30 p.m. involved a collision between a 2018 Toyota RAV4 and a 2015 Toyota Highlander, Perkins said.
The occupants of the RAV4, a 37-year-old Lakeville woman and a 2-year-old girl, and the sole occupant of the Highlander, a 24-year-old Lakeville man, were transported to St. Luke's Hospital in New Bedford with what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries, Perkins said.
Their current conditions are unknown at this time.
The road was closed on both sides, Perkins reported, while the crash was being investigated. Massachusetts State Police and the Massachusetts Department of Transportation assisted with traffic at the scene.
The road was reopened at about 1:30 p.m.
The crash remains under investigation by Lakeville Police officers Emily Melo and Robert Schiffer. Lakeville Fire also reported to the scene.
