Jan 31, 2023

MIDDLEBORO – Middleboro voters will have a choice for select board in April.

Incumbents Nathan Demers and Mark Germain and newcomer Thomas White have taken out nomination papers as of Jan. 30 for the two available seats on the board.

Nomination papers must be taken out no later than 5 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8.

Demers, who also serves as chair of the Tourism Committee, said “the town needs someone that’s level-headed’’ who can “bring decorum’’ to the board.

“I want to get to the root of the issues and put politics to the side,’’ he said.

Germain is the current chair of the board and previously served as chair of the Finance Committee.

He was not immediately available for comment.

White, who serves on the Council on Aging and previously served as chair of the Housing Authority, said he was approached by people in the town who encouraged him to run.

“I can bring people together,’’ he said. “I’m a natural communicator.’’

The last day to return nomination papers is Friday, Feb, 10.
