There’s a lot happening in Middleboro and Lakeville in any given week. Here’s what’s coming up. For more information on these and other upcoming events, visit nemasketweektoday.com.

Friday, Oct. 7 

First Friday 

The Middleboro Downtown Merchants will officially introduce a new logo for downtown shops during First Friday Oct. 7. The Oak Point Art Association will also participate in the Middleboro Reveal and Windows Alive event from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 7 and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8 at the Bridge Church, 31 Center St.

Saturday, Oct. 8

Check out the fire station

The Lakeville Fire Department is hosting an open house from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the fire department, 346 Bedford St. 

The event will feature food, games and other attractions.

Pets like Halloween too

A blessing of the pets and pet costume parade will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8 at Ted Williams Park, 305 Bedford St., Lakeville. 

Prizes will be awarded for best costume. The event will also feature crafts, and raffles and concessions will benefit the Lakeville Animal Shelter and Church of Our Saviour.

Listen to Beethoven

The Mayflower Chamber Orchestra will present two performances of Beethoven @ 250. The program includes three of Beethoven’s most popular works: the “Coriolan” Overture, the Symphony No. 5 in C Minor, and the Symphony No. 7 in A Major. 

Two concerts will be held: Saturday, Oct. 8 at 7:30 p.m. at Saints Martha and Mary Church, 354 Bedford St., Lakeville, and Sunday, Oct. 9 at 3 p.m. at  Central Congregational Church, 2 Webster St., Middleboro.

Both performances are free to the public, although a donation of $10 to $20 to help pay for the orchestral musicians is suggested.

Fun on the farm 

Elliot Farm, 202 Main St., Lakeville, will host its second annual harvest fair from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8.

The event will include live music by ARLO; face painting by Art on the Spot; petting zoo and artisan products by Child’s Play Alpaca; burgers and hot dogs by Lakeville Lions Club; local brews by Harper Lane Brewery; hot apple cider doughnuts by Elliot Farm; ice cream by Crescent Ridge Dairy; selfie stations; and bounce house; pick-your-own pumpkin patch and a 50/50 raffle.

Make friends with dogs

Winberg’s True Value, 352 Bedford St., Lakeville, will host Grilling for Dogs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8. Those attending can meet dogs available for adoption from the Lakeville Animal Shelter. 

The event will also include a bounce house, a test of strength game, a drawing for a Weber grill, food specials and merchandise discounts. 

Sunday, Oct. 9

Betty’s Neck Celebration

Lakeville is celebrating the 20th anniversary of the town purchasing Betty’s Neck, a stretch of land by Assawompset Pond. The event includes live music by Lakeville’s Blake Gorman, fire and police vehicles to explore, and a birds of prey show starting at 1 p.m. The event runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and bag lunches will be available for $5. Kids under 10 receive a free surprise for attending.

Monday, Oct. 10 

Fall festival at camp

Camp Yomechas, 375 Wareham St., Middleboro, will host a fall family festival from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 10.

Activities will include food trucks from Flying Banana, Downtown Nutrition and Mama Deb’s; vendors including Plymouth County sheriff’s child ID program; Silly Faces by Sarah; a visit from Child’s Play Alpacas and children’s activities.

Sinatra sings

Michael Dutra will present Strictly Sinatra at The Alley Theatre, 133 Centre St., Middleboro on Monday, Oct. 10. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Music begins at 7 p.m. 

The Bartending Service of New England will be offering a full bar. Main Ingredient will provide food options.

Thursday, Oct. 13

Meet and hear bagpipers

Old Colony Highlanders Pipe Band will host its annual open house at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 13, at 7:30 pm at the Lakeville United Church of Christ, 1 Precinct St., Lakeville.

The band will perform and band members will be available afterward to meet with the public.
