There is always a lot to do in Middleboro and Lakeville. This week, collect candy at the Yomachas Camp trunk or treat, get spooked at the annual ghost drive and view vintage vehicles at the New England Speed Meeting.
Friday, Oct. 27
Ghost drive returns to Middleboro
The Middleboro Park Department’s annual Ghost Drive will return on Friday, Oct. 27 and Saturday, Oct. 28.
The event will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on both dates and will be held at Pierce Playground.
The entrance fee is a $15 donation per vehicle. Participants are asked to enter through Jackson Street and exit through Lincoln Street.
Everyone must remain in their vehicle.

Vintage car show to celebrate ‘ol skool speed’
Vintage car enthusiasts are welcome to attend the 22nd annual New England Speed Meeting car show on Sunday, Oct . 29.
The car show will be held at Pierce Playground located at 26 Jackson Street, gates open at 9 a.m.
The car meet will feature a vintage auto flea market, prizes and refreshments including chowder.
The drawing for the prize will take place at 2 p.m., the winner must be present during the time of drawing.
Tickets are $10 per person and children under 12 are free. No pets are allowed at the event.
Trunk or treat at Camp Yomechas
The annual Camp Yomechas trunk or treat will be held on Sunday, Oct. 29 from 4 to 6 p.m.
The event will be held at Camp Yomechas located at 375 Wareham Street.
The fee for those participating in car decoration is $10 per car.

Songs and stories with musician Matt York
Musician Matt York will have two performances this week.
York will perform at the Middleboro Public Library on Wednesday, Nov. 1 at 6:30 p.m. and again at the Lakeville Council on Aging on Thursday, Nov. 9 at 10 a.m.
York will perform songs and tell stories about the four country music icons known as the Highwaymen — Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Kris Kristofferson and Waylon Jennings.
Matt grew up in Foxboro and began playing in the clubs of Boston as a teenager.
Recently nominated for the 2022 Boston Music Award for Best Country Artist, York lives on the South Shore and has traveled extensively through the years performing his
Songs.

Meet the volunteers of Friends of Middleboro Cemeteries
Meet the volunteers or the Friends of Middleboro Cemeteries and learn more about what they do on Thursday, Nov. 2.
The Friends of Middleboro Cemeteries will host a meet and greet from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Middleboro Library.
Photos and videos of the work done this summer at the Reed and Gilbert Peirce Cemeteries will be on display and light refreshments will be served.
Providence of the Heart
Get ready for a new play at The Alley Theater. On Thursday, Nov. 2, the play “providence of the heart” will be performed.

Unitarian Universalist holiday fair
The First Unitarian Universalist Society of Middleboro will be hosting a holiday fair on Saturday, Nov. 4 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The fair will be held at Parish Hall, located at 25 South Main Street.
There will be a selection of home baked goods, soups and sauces, a jewelry and scarf table and a variety of crafts from several local vendors.
There will be a raffle for Labyrinth Walk patterned queen size quilt crafted by a church member, with proceeds going towards the society.
Chances will be available for $5 each or a book of five chances for $20. Drawing will be held at 1:45 p.m, the winner must be present to receive the prize.
