There’s fun for all at the Lakeville Council on Aging in February

LAKEVILLE — The Lakeville Council on Aging is hosting a number of events in the month of February.

Registration is required for some events. To register for events, call 508-947-7224.

On Fridays on Feb. 2, Feb. 9, and Feb. 23 from 9 to 11 a.m. the “COA Cafe” will provide guests with coffee, tea, juices and snacks.

The Council on Aging’s Outreach Services are available every Tuesday by appointment only. Outreach Services provides information and referrals to seniors for programs like fuel assistance and caregiver services.

Veterans Agent Wilford Corey will host office hours every Friday from 8 a.m to 4 p.m.

Blood Pressure with Carol will be held on Monday Feb. 5 and Monday Feb. 26 from 12 to 1:30 p.m. in the craft room. The Lakeville Fire Department will also provide blood pressure readings on Friday, Feb. 9 and Friday, Feb. 23 from 9 to 11 a.m.

A Tai Chi class will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 6 and Tuesday, Feb. 20 at 10 a.m.

Old Colony Regional Vocational Technical High School Cosmetology Students will offer manicures on Thursday, Feb. 8 from 9:30 to 11 a.m.

A grief/loss support group will meet on Thursday, Feb. 8 at 1 p.m.

The Lakeville Select Board will be at the Council on Aging on Friday, Feb. 9 from 10 to 11 a.m.

Representative Norman Orrall will visit on Monday, Feb. 12 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.

The Council on Aging’s book club will meet on Monday, Feb. 12 at 1 p.m. to discuss “When We Found Home” by Susan Mallery.

The movie “Letters to Juliet” will be shown on Tuesday, Feb. 13 at 1 p.m. “Beauty and the Beast” will be shown on Thursday, Feb. 15 at 1 p.m. Admission for each movie is $2.

Music Bingo will be held on Friday, Feb. 16 at 10 a.m. Sign-up is required.

Registered Dietitian Ashley Whewell will host a nutrition class on Friday, Feb. 16 at 2 p.m. The event will conclude with food for all to try. Sign-up for this event is required.

A step-by-step painting session will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 21 at 10 a.m. The cost to participate is $20, which includes all supplies needed. No experience is needed. Call to reserve a spot.

An educational cannabis Q&A will be held on Thursday, Feb 22 at 1 p.m. Registration is required.

Attorney Adam Bond will give 20 minute consultations on Tuesday, Feb. 27 from 10 to 11 a.m by appointment only.

A bingo game will take place on Tuesday, Feb. 27 at 12 p.m. American chop suey will be served for lunch. Spots are limited and admission is $5.

State Senator Michael Rodriguez will host office hours at the Council on Aging on Wednesday, Feb. 28 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
