Sip and Stroll showcases local crafters on Black Friday

Nov 18, 2022

MIDDLEBORO — Local business will be in the spotlight from noon to 4 p.m. Friday, Nov. 25, Black Friday, for the Sip and Stroll on the lawn of Middleboro Town Hall.

Local crafters include Lakeville resident and woodworker Tom Benner, who makes tables, doors, bowls, boards, benches, and Adirondack chairs.

As a child, his parents took him to a store in Vineyard Haven called Bowl Board. He was fascinated by the amazing things the artists produced from simple pieces of wood. At the time Tom didn’t even know what a lathe was, but the seed was planted in his brain.

Years later his wife Kate asked for a new dresser. Instead of buying one he decided to try to build one. Now he makes tables, doors, bowls, boards, benches and Adirondack chairs, transforming pieces of wood into items families can use and enjoy. He loves going to local mills and hardwood shops.

Sip and Stroll will feature 88 vendors, food, raffles, The Bartending Service of New England, and music. Proceeds benefit The Burt Wood School of Performing Arts Scholarship program. Admission is free.
