NORTH MIDDLEBOROUGH - Sheila E. (Vaughn) Thorson, age 75, longtime resident of North Middleborough, died unexpectedly, on Friday, September 22, 2023.

She was born and grew up in Middleborough, and was the daughter of the late Henry & Esther (Crossley) Vaughn. Sheila attended public schools and graduated from Middleborough High School, in June of 1967. She married Paul Thorson on June 24, 1967 and they started their family. Sheila worked for many years as an Education Support Professional for the Middleborough Public Schools.

In retirement, she kept active; travelling around the world, going on numerous cruises and spending winters in Florida with her husband Paul. Sheila loved spending time with her family and friends, sitting by a roaring fire, cooking and baking, and enjoyed shopping, especially stopping at yard sales and thrift stores searching for the bargains! She was loved and will be missed.

Sheila was the beloved wife for 56 years to Paul Thorson; loving mother of Eric Thorson & his wife Stacy of Plymouth and Paula Rooney & her husband Pat of Middleborough; devoted grandmother of Andrew, Willow, Patrick and Paige; dear sister of Ronald Vaughn, Donna Bernabeo, Lynelle Vaughn, the late Wayne Vaughn and Melody Figueiredo. She is also survived by her faithful companion, Chopper.

Family and friends are welcome to the visiting hours at the Ashley Funeral Home, 35 Oak Street, Middleborough, on Wednesday, September 27, 2023, from 4:00-7:00 PM.

All are invited to Sheila's funeral service at the Ashley Funeral Home, Middleborough, on Thursday, September 28, 2023, at 10:00 AM.

Interment will follow at the Central Cemetery, Centre Street, Middleborough.
