September happenings at Middleboro senior center
MIDDLEBORO — With caregiver support programs, silent movie showings and presentations about the History of the Celtics, the Middleboro senior center has plenty to keep residents busy the next few months.
On Wednesday, Sept. 11 from 7 to 8 p.m. the senior center will hold an education program to teach caregivers how to effectively communicate with loved ones with dementia. Caregivers will learn how to use a person-centered approach to communicate more effectively no matter the stage of the disease.
Middleboro homeowners that are 60 years old and over may be eligible to take part in the Senior Tax Work Off Program. Participation is limited to 15-20 residents per year. The deadline to apply is Nov. 1.
Volunteer opportunities at the Middleboro COA are available. Volunteers are needed to help with the dining room, the Meals on Wheels program, out of town medical driving and the adult day care program. Call the COA and ask for Kathy for more information.

On Thursday, Oct. 3 at 1 p.m., Veteran sports journalist Marty Gitlin will discuss the history of the most successful NBA franchise in the presentation “The Dynasty and Beyond: History of the Super Celtics.” Call to reserve a spot.
On Thursday, Oct. 10 there will be a Community Resource Fair teaching residents how to live safely at home from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
