Seniors celebrate Santa and the spirit of the season

Dec 20, 2022

LAKEVILLE — The gifts area seniors want most from Santa wouldn’t fit in his sleigh.

But they would make the world merry and bright.

World peace. Good health. Time with family.

Those were some of the wishes the seniors shared during the annual Christmas Lakeville Council on Aging luncheon Dec. 20 at Loon Pond Lodge.

“Peace’’ was the only gift that Charlene Montleon said she wanted.

“When you get to be a certain age, there isn’t much that one needs,’’ she said.

Lakeville Senior Center Director Lori Fahey hoped the luncheon gathering, with food from Boston Tavern, provided a chance for the seniors to gather and celebrate.

“This is a time for them to get together and have a meal,’’ she said. “It’s a day of inclusion so everyone gets to share in the holiday spirit.’’

Fahey received warm applause as she stood at the microphone and welcomed the visitors.

But the cheers were equally loud for the man in the red suit and white beard who had just three words for those attending.

“Ho. Ho. Ho.’’
