MIDDLEBORO — Between Thanksgiving and Christmas in 2023, the Sacred Heart Food Pantry, which is sponsored by the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul, collected over 5,000 pounds of food.

An event held in December where the Middleboro community bought and decorated snowmen also raised $1,400 for the pantry.

On Dec. 8, proceeds from the sale of ice cream at Tom and Jimmy’s on West Grove Street raised another $1,200, according to a press release from the food pantry. “We are truly blessed by the help of our friends and neighbors,” said Food Pantry Director David Cunningham.

The Society of Saint Vincent de Paul also manages a “Giving Tree” program during the holiday season. In 2023, the program raised gifts for more than 387 children and 97 residents of nursing homes.
